Lake Midnapore
A 1970s lake community wrapped by Fish Creek Park
Midnapore was established in 1977, and its lake was excavated in 1976 by Keith Construction, the community's developer. The result is a 30-acre lake, about 20 feet deep on average, set in a 23-acre park with a hill and waterfall built from the excavated earth. Fish Creek Provincial Park wraps around the community to the north and east.
The lake and park are owned and operated by the Midnapore Lake Residents Association, a not-for-profit, and are for the exclusive use of Midnapore Lake residents and their guests. Each residence in the association's area is required to contribute an annual fee. Members have a beach with a slide and diving dock, rowboats, kayaks, canoes and paddleboards, courts for tennis and pickleball, disc golf, and a lake stocked for fishing.
The housing is among the most varied of the lake communities, with detached homes alongside duplexes, townhouse complexes and low-rise condominiums, most dating from the 1970s and 1980s. Fish Creek–Lacombe CTrain station is a short walk across Macleod Trail.
