Arbour Lake

Northwest Calgary's only lake community

Arbour Lake was developed by Melcor Developments. The first show homes opened in 1991, and by 1993 the lake was filled and officially opened. The residents' association describes it as northwest Calgary's only lake community, and the lake as a ten-acre, man-made lake at the heart of the neighbourhood.

The lake is private. According to the Arbour Lake Residents Association, every lot in the community has an encumbrance registered on title that requires the owner to pay a yearly residents' association fee. Members swim, boat, fish and skate on the lake; motor boats are not allowed, and fishing is currently catch-and-release. The association's Residents Hall and Pavilion host events and can be rented by members.

Homes are mostly detached houses from the 1990s, along with low-rise and taller apartment and condominium buildings. The Crowfoot CTrain station sits beside the community on Crowchild Trail, with shopping at Crowfoot Crossing close by.
